OUR MISSION

Veterinary medicine is currently experiencing a significant transition, with large corporate chains acquiring local veterinary clinics. Similar to trends in human medicine, veterinarians in these clinics often have considerably less time to spend in the exam room with clients and their pets. Although this system may increase profits, it does not provide the best outcomes for patients. Additionally, these clinics often avoid treating exotic pets, such as small mammals, reptiles, and birds, as they do not consider them profitable.

I became a veterinarian out of my deep love for animals, medicine, and surgery. To ensure that all family pets receive the care they deserve, I founded My Pet's Vet. We provide care for all species of family pets, backed by experience and expertise. Our appointments are thorough and not time-constrained. Our lobby is peaceful, and our wait times are minimal. We often know our clients by name because our focus is on both you and your pet!

Best regards,
Dr. Ron Beatty

Dr. Ron Beatty was born and raised in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1986. He enlisted in the Army for a four-year term as a crew member on the M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank, marking his first time away from Wisconsin. After spending time stationed in Germany with the First Armored Division, he was ordered to Fort Polk, Louisiana, where he met Tammy, his future wife. A year and a half later, he was honorably discharged from the Army. They married and moved back to Wisconsin.

Dr. Beatty graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry. During his studies, he traveled to the Republic of Panama with his ecology professor, Dr. Greg Adler, to research the Central American spiny rat. He also helped mist net the endangered Kirtland's warbler in the Jack Pines of Michigan for ecological studies. Working at Menomonee Park Zoo in Oshkosh as an undergraduate further developed his love for animals. He earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001, focusing on exotic pets in addition to cats and dogs.

Dr. Beatty regularly attends continuing education events to acquire new medical and surgical skills that benefit his patients. Since graduation, he has worked in the greater Milwaukee area and founded My Pet's Vet in Mequon in 2005. He enjoys seeing all companion animals, including dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, rabbits, ferrets, chinchillas, guinea pigs, sugar gliders, and other small mammals. In his free time, Dr. Beatty enjoys beekeeping, geocaching, gardening, home handyman projects, reading, and building geocaches.

His personal pets include four large red-footed tortoises and four male cats named Geo, Veda, Mr. Bean, and Chili. He also has a bearded dragon named Seymour, a 92-gallon saltwater reef tank, a 150-gallon cichlid tank, a 150-gallon tropical fish tank, and several honey bee hives.

Ava has worked with animals since 2022. From a daycare & boarding facility, to WVRC Waukesha, & starting at My Pet's Vet in August 2025. She has enjoyed dog sitting, dog bathing, nail trimming, restraining, & learning various behaviors from different animals throughout her life.

Ava is currently finishing her degree in Organismal Biology online at the University of Arizona. Her lack of pets growing up is what pushed her to find her passion in animal care & now she has a basset hound, Buddy, to help her in her studies! Buddy is the sweetest boy & a trained service animal, eventually starting his own adventures visiting cancer patients in the hospital.
