Veterinary medicine is undergoing a transition where large corporation chains are purchasing local veterinary clinics. Much in the way it has been in human medicine, Veterinarians in those clinics have much less time in the exam room with clients and pets. While this system increases profits, it does not benefit patients. These clinics also often avoid exotic pets such small mammals, reptiles, and birds because they do not consider them to be profitable.

I became a Veterinarian for my love of animals, medicine, and surgery. In order to give all family pets the quality care they deserve, I founded My Pet's Vet. We care for all species of family pets with experience and expertise. Our appointments are thorough and not timed.  Our lobby is quiet and our wait times are short.  We often know our clients by name because our focus is you and your pet!

Best regards, Dr. Ron Beatty

Dr. Ron Beatty was born and raised in Manitowoc, Wisconsin where he graduated from Lincoln High School in 1986. He enlisted in the army for four years as a crewman on the M1 Abrams Main Battle Tank. It was his first time out of Wisconsin! After spending time stationed in Germany with the First Armored Division where he was ordered to Fort Polk, Louisiana. Just after arriving, he met Tammy, his future wife. A year and half later her was honorably discharged from the army. They married and moved to Wisconsin.

He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science majoring in biology and a minor in chemistry. He spent time in the Republic of Panama with his ecology professor Dr. Greg Adler researching the Central American Spiny Rat. He also helped mist net the endangered Kirtland's Warblers in the Jack Pines of Michigan for ecological studies. Working at the Menomonee Park Zoo in Oshkosh as an undergraduate also helped develop his love for animals. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison School of Veterinary Medicine in 2001. Dr. Beatty focused on exotic pets as well as cats and dogs.

Dr. Beatty regularly attends continuing education events so he can learn new medical and surgical skills to benefit his patients. Since graduation he has worked in the greater Milwaukee area. He founded My Pet's Vet in Mequon in 2005. Dr. Beatty enjoys seeing all companion animals: dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, rabbits, ferrets, chinchillas, guinea pigs, sugar gliders, and other small mammals. In his free time, he enjoys bee keeping, Geocaching, gardening, home handyman projects, reading, and building Geocaches.

Dr. Beatty's personal pets consist of four large Red-footed Tortoises, four male cats named Geo, Veda, Mr. Bean, and Chili. A Bearded Dragon named Seymour, a 92 gallon saltwater reef tank, a 150 gallon cichlid tank, a 150 gallon tropical fish tank and several honey bee hives.
